Today we’re introducing a new security feature to better protect your Twitter account: login verification. This is a form of two-factor authentication.
Looks like it’s a gradual rollout, because this feature hasn’t showed up yet on my account. Also, it’s strictly SMS-based at this point. Here’s hoping for Authy support in the near future. Facebook’s two-factor auth uses their iPhone app to generate tokens, and I’m hoping Twitter doesn’t take a similar route. I’d rather have all of my tokens in one place.
I would also appreciate if these big companies would just say “two-factor authentication” rather than trying to come up with friendlier names like “login verification” and “login approvals.” Better for consumers to learn one name for the process.
